Finding Journals
The Library has a large range of journals that are available for you to access and use as a student, researcher or staff member of RGU.
Most of the time you will be using databases to search for a full range of journal articles on a topic but sometimes you may want to find out if we have a specific journal title, what years we have, if it is online or in print and how you can access it.
Finding Individual Journals
All of our print journals, and the majority of our eJournals, can be found via LibrarySearch. There are two ways of doing this which are described below.
Please remember that some journals can only be found via the database/collection they are part of, so as well as using the options on this page, please also remember to try searching the library databases.
In addition, this page also gives information about accessing print journals and using the Browzine tool to browse eJournals.
Using Journal Search
From the LibrarySearch homepage, locate the Journal Search link.
You will be taken to a dedicated Journal Search page for searching for journal titles or ISSN.
If we have a subscription to the journal you searched for, you'll find it here. If it is available in print you will see information telling you it is in the University Library, and if it is available online you will see an Available Online link:
To find out what years are available and to access the journal if it is available online, click the links or the journal title.
Using the Refining Options
You can also search for the journal via the LibrarySearch homepage.
Instead of looking through all the results, you can use the filters on the left-hand side to narrow down to Journals.
If we have a subscription to it, you will find the journal in the results list, and will see what years are available and access it if it is available online.
Print Journal Access
Once you have found the journal title you are interested in and see that it is available in print, there are a couple of options to access the journal itself:
- If the journal is available on level 8, you can visit the library and locate the journal on the shelves and then read it in the library. Please be aware that all of our print journals are reference only and so cannot be taken away from the library.
- You can make a request for a scan of an article from the journal to be emailed to you. Find out more at our Article and Chapter Requests page
Browzine
Browzine is a browsing tool for many of the Library's eJournal subscriptions. It allows visual browsing of journal issues and organic content discovery. Browzine can be found and accessed via the Library’s database list.
On the Browzine homepage, you can browse subject areas or use the search box:

And when you choose a journal, you are shown a contents list which includes links to the articles:
